Selected excerpts from an interview with Apparat:

I had to face writer’s block. As you get older, you start to fear that you’ve exhausted all your ideas and that there’s nothing left. I couldn’t make music for two or three years. The longer I waited, the harder it was to return to the studio.

At some point, I broke free from my paralysis. I went to the studio and set myself the goal of creating one song a day. I did this for nearly three months. If nothing came out, so be it—I’d move on to something else the next day.

It got easier day by day. The problem wasn’t my inability to compose; it was the fear of doing it. At some point, I was finding good ideas every day. And I still have plenty. This is the first time the creative process has been completely enjoyable for me.
